## Overview

The AI knowledge base is the brain behind LeadTruffle's AI — it's what the AI knows about your business when it talks to your leads. If the AI ever says something inaccurate, the fix is almost always here. Getting this section dialed in means the AI can confidently represent your business, handle common questions, and move leads toward booking.

To get started, go to **AI Lead Capture → AI Knowledge Base** in the left sidebar.

## Scrape your website

The fastest way to populate your knowledge base is to scrape your website. LeadTruffle will pull in your business info automatically.

1. In the AI Knowledge Base section, click **Scrape Website**
2. Enter your website URL and run the scrape
3. Review the results and click **Save**

Depending on how thorough your website is, this may be enough to get started — or you may want to add to it. Go through each section below to fill in any gaps.

## Re-scrape your website and review changes

You can re-scrape your website any time to pull in updated business info. Because a scrape *replaces* your saved knowledge, LeadTruffle shows you exactly what's changing before anything is saved — so a re-scrape never quietly overwrites edits you've made by hand.

When you re-scrape, the **Configure AI Knowledge** screen opens and compares the new website scan against your currently saved knowledge:

1. Each field is tagged **No changes** or **Changed**, so you can see at a glance what the scrape wants to update
2. Click any **Changed** field to see a line-by-line comparison of your currently saved value versus the proposed new value
3. Edit the proposed value directly if you'd like — the comparison updates as you type
4. Click **Save reviewed changes**, then **Confirm and save** to apply them

||| Changed fields replace their saved values, and changes can't be undone — there's no version history to roll back to. Review the removed lines carefully before confirming, especially service exclusions and pricing rules you added by hand.

|| Your **Shared AI Instructions** are protected. Website scans never change that field, so anything you've written there stays put.

## 1. Company description

Tell the AI what your business does in plain language.

* Who you are and what you do
* What areas you serve
* Any standout details — years in business, specialties, certifications, etc.

| A couple of sentences or a short paragraph is plenty. You don't need to include every detail about your business — just enough for the AI to represent you accurately.

## 2. Products and services

List out everything you do — and just as importantly, what you *don't* do.

**Services you offer:**
List your core services so the AI knows what it can book leads for.

**Services you do not offer:**
This is just as important. If you regularly get calls asking about something you don't do, put it here. For example:

> *We do not offer roof replacements, electrical panel upgrades, or HVAC installation.*

You can also instruct the AI on how to handle those questions:

> *If someone asks about services we don't offer, politely let them know we don't provide that service.*

## 3. Pricing

For most businesses, the goal is to get leads on the calendar — not give quotes over the phone. Here's what's most useful to include:

* **Service or trip fee** — if you charge one, put it here (e.g. *"We have a $150 service fee for coming out, which is applied toward any work performed."*)
* **Free estimates** — if you offer them, say so
* **No phone estimates** — if this applies, include it (e.g. *"We do not give estimates over the phone. We schedule an in-person visit first."*)
* **Ballpark guidance** — if you're open to it after multiple asks, you can add a note like *"If a customer asks more than twice, you may give a rough range of $X–$Y."*

|| If you do want the AI to quote pricing, you can paste your pricing info directly into this field or summarize it with the help of ChatGPT or Claude.

## Service area

LeadTruffle's service area is zip code-based. The AI uses this to determine whether an incoming lead is inside or outside your coverage area.

### Adding zip codes

1. In the **Include** box, paste your zip codes — comma-separated or one per line
2. Click **Add Zip Code**

To edit your list later, click **Edit** and make any changes.

### Exclude zip codes (Optional)

You typically don't need this. The only case where it helps is if you service an entire city except for a small handful of specific zip codes — you can add those to the **Exclude** box to make it crystal clear.

### Using a radius instead (Optional)

If you don't have a full zip code list, you can enter a zip code and a mile radius:

1. Enter your central zip code
2. Set the radius (e.g. 10 or 20 miles)
3. Give it a label and save

| A specific zip code list is more accurate. Use the radius option as a fallback if needed.

### Zip code checker

Use the **Check a Zip Code** tool to verify the AI has your service area right before you go live.

### Telling leads they're outside your area

By default, the AI checks the zip code internally and flags it in your inbox — but doesn't tell the lead directly.

If you want the AI to proactively tell out-of-area leads you don't service them, check the **Use service area in conversation** box. No prompt changes needed — just check the box.
