How to Set Up Call Forwarding on AT&T

📝 Set up call forwarding from your AT&T number to LeadTruffle so AI Voice can answer and qualify every call you miss

Table of contents

Overview

Forwarding your AT&T calls to your LeadTruffle-assigned number lets LeadTruffle's AI Voice answer, qualify, and follow up on every inbound call. You'll need your LeadTruffle phone number handy to complete setup.

There are two types of forwarding:

  • Conditional (recommended) — forwards only missed, busy, or unreachable calls. Your phone rings first.
  • Unconditional — forwards every call immediately, without ringing your phone at all.

Before you start: iPhone Live Voicemail

iPhone users: Live/Visual Voicemail can grab a call before it forwards. Turn it off during setup under Settings → Phone → Live Voicemail → Off.

Use this when you want your phone to ring first, and only unanswered, busy, or unreachable calls to forward to LeadTruffle for instant follow-up.

Conditional forwarding is the recommended setup for most contractors — you never miss a lead, but you keep the chance to answer live.

Star-code availability varies by AT&T plan and line. If one code doesn't work, try the alternates below or contact AT&T to enable conditional forwarding.

Option A — Turn on each condition individually (most reliable)

Condition

Turn on

Turn off

No answer

**61* + number + #

#61#

Unreachable (off / no service)

**62* + number + #

#62#

Busy

**67* + number + #

#67#

Steps (example: forward unanswered calls)

  1. Open the Phone app and go to the keypad.
  2. Dial **61* + your LeadTruffle number + #.
  3. Press Call, wait for the confirmation tone, then hang up.
  4. Repeat with **62* and/or **67* for the other conditions.
  5. Test: call your AT&T number and let it ring — it should forward to LeadTruffle.

Option B — Forward all missed call types at once (if supported by your plan)

  1. Open the Phone app and go to the keypad.
  2. Dial **004* + your LeadTruffle number + *11#.
  3. Press Call, wait for confirmation, then hang up.
  4. Test: call your AT&T number and let it ring — after a few rings it should forward.

Turn off: dial #004# and press Call.

*11 is a voice-service identifier, not a ring-count setting. AT&T uses a default ring duration (about 15–20 seconds, or 4–5 rings). Changing it may require contacting AT&T.

Unconditional call forwarding (all calls)

Use this when you want every inbound call to go straight to LeadTruffle without ringing your phone first.

Option A — iPhone settings

Many iPhones let you set unconditional forwarding without dial codes. See AT&T's iPhone call-forwarding guide.

Option B — Dial codes

Method

Turn on

Turn off

Star codes

*72 + number + #

*73

GSM codes

**21* + number + #

#21#

Steps

  1. Open the Phone app and go to the keypad.
  2. Dial *72 + your LeadTruffle number + # (or **21* + number + #).
  3. Press Call, wait for the confirmation tone, then hang up.
  4. Test: from another phone, call your AT&T number — it should connect straight to LeadTruffle with no ring on your device.

While unconditional forwarding is on, your device won't ring at all — every call routes to LeadTruffle. Use conditional forwarding if you still want the chance to answer live.

iPhone and voicemail tips

  • Make sure Live Voicemail is OFF (Settings → Phone → Live Voicemail → Off).
  • If calls still land in AT&T voicemail before forwarding, your voicemail may be picking up too quickly. Increase the ring time, or temporarily disable advanced voicemail so forwarding can trigger first.
  • Always run a test call after setup.

Important details

  • Voicemail override: While forwarding is active, it overrides your standard AT&T wireless voicemail.
  • No international forwarding: AT&T won't forward calls to international numbers. Your LeadTruffle number is US-based, so this won't affect setup.
  • Billing: Forwarded calls are billed at your plan's standard airtime, and long-distance rates may apply.
  • Changing your forward-to number later: Turn off the old forwarding first, then re-enable with the new number.
  • Quick rollback codes:
  • Unconditional off: *73 (or #21#)
  • Conditional off: #004# (or #61# / #62# / #67# individually)

For account-level controls, see the AT&T Wireless Support Guide, or manage forwarding directly in your phone's settings menu.
