Overview

When a call goes unanswered, the first thing a caller hears is your voicemail. A clear, friendly greeting that tells them you'll text right back keeps that missed call from turning into a lost lead — and it pairs perfectly with LeadTruffle's missed-call text back.

This guide shows you how to record a professional-sounding AI voicemail greeting for free using ElevenLabs, then download it to use as your greeting.

The ElevenLabs free plan includes 10,000 characters a month — far more than enough for a short voicemail greeting. The free plan is intended for personal use; if you'd like commercial usage rights, review ElevenLabs' paid plans and terms.

Step 1: Create a free ElevenLabs account

  1. Go to elevenlabs.io and click Sign up (or Log in if you already have an account).
  2. Sign up with your email or with a Google account.
  3. If ElevenLabs asks what you'd like to use the platform for, pick any option — it won't affect this setup.
  4. When prompted to choose a plan, skip the paid options and stay on the Free plan.

Step 2: Choose your voice and settings

  1. From the left menu, open Text to Speech.
  2. Click the Voice dropdown near the top and choose a voice. We recommend Jessica Anne Bogart — warm and professional.
  3. Drag the Stability slider all the way up (toward More stable). This gives you a steady, even read that's ideal for a voicemail.
  4. Leave the other settings (Model, Speed, Similarity) at their defaults.

Turning Stability all the way up keeps the voice consistent and professional. If it sounds a little flat, nudge the slider down slightly and regenerate.

Step 3: Add your voicemail script

  1. Click into the text box and paste your voicemail script.
  2. Keep it short and friendly — greet the caller, let them know you missed their call, ask them to leave their name, number, and a brief message, and tell them you'll text right back.
  3. Not sure what to say? Use the sample script below and swap in your business name.

Sample voicemail script

Copy this and replace [Business Name] with your own:

"Hi, you've reached [Business Name]. Sorry we missed your call. Please leave your name, phone number, and a brief message, and we'll text you back right away. Thanks so much for calling."

Step 4: Generate and download your voicemail

  1. Click Generate speech (or Regenerate speech if you've already generated once).
  2. Press the Play button to listen to your greeting.
  3. Happy with it? Click the Download icon to save the MP3 file to your computer.
  4. Want to make a change? Adjust your script or settings and regenerate until it sounds right.

Use it as your voicemail greeting

Once you've downloaded the MP3, set it as your voicemail greeting: https://app.leadtruffle.com/missed-calls/voicemail

That way, every missed call hears a polished greeting — and gets an instant text from LeadTruffle.
