How to set up Call Connect for new leads

📝 Call Connect rings your team for an eligible new lead. Hear the available lead details, press 1, and LeadTruffle calls the contact to connect you.

Call Connect was previously called Call Bridge. If your account still shows the earlier name, it refers to the same feature.

Overview

Call Connect helps you reach new leads fast. When a lead comes in, LeadTruffle calls your team first. Once a team member accepts, LeadTruffle calls the lead and connects you both.

Everything else keeps running as normal: lead capture, notifications, AI qualification, and follow-ups all continue alongside Call Connect.

How Call Connect works

  1. A new lead arrives from an enabled source with a usable phone number.
  2. Your team number rings for about 30 seconds.
  3. When someone answers, they hear the lead source, the lead's name, and a short summary of the service request (when available).
  4. The team member presses 1 within 10 seconds to accept.
  5. LeadTruffle calls the lead for about 30 seconds and connects both parties if the lead answers.

If no one presses 1, the lead is not called. Simply answering the introduction isn't enough.

A few things to know:

  • One attempt per new lead inquiry. If a call goes unanswered or fails, there's no automatic retry and no backup team number.
  • Status doesn't change. Accepting a call doesn't mark the lead as booked, put the conversation under manual takeover, or turn off AI follow-ups. Update the lead status and AI settings yourself if needed.

Before you start

  • You'll need to be a company administrator to set up Call Connect.
  • Call Connect must be available on your account. If you don't see it under Settings → Phone, contact support.
  • You'll need an active Click-to-Call number.

To get to setup, go to Settings → Phone → Call Connect → Setup.

Step 1: Set up your Click-to-Call number

  1. In Numbers & Settings, choose an active Click-to-Call number.
  2. Make sure Click-to-Call is enabled.

Your team sees this managed calling number. The contact sees the Business caller ID selected in Numbers & Settings: your managed calling number by default, or a business number you have verified and selected.

Optional: show your business number to contacts

  1. In Business caller ID, enter your business phone number and select Verify business number.
  2. Answer the verification call and enter the displayed six-digit code on your phone keypad.
  3. After verification succeeds, choose that number under Number shown to contacts. Verification alone does not select it.

This selection is shared by browser Click-to-Call, Call my phone, automatic Call Connect, and demos. It does not move your number, change incoming-call routing, enable texting, or guarantee a business-name display or removal of spam labels. Return calls follow the selected number's existing routing.

Step 2: Set your team number

  1. Enter your default team number. This is the number that rings when a new lead comes in.
  2. (Optional) Add dedicated numbers to route specific lead sources to different teams or to a call-tracking number, such as CallRail.

A dedicated number always takes priority over the default team number for that source.

Team and tracking numbers are destinations for the first call. Entering one here does not make it an outgoing caller ID. Your team sees the managed calling number; contacts see the selected Business caller ID.

Step 3: Turn on Call Connect and choose your lead sources

  1. Toggle Call Connect on.
  2. Turn on each lead source you want to trigger calls:
    • Yelp
    • Thumbtack message inquiries with a callable phone number
    • Angi
    • Custom webhook
    • Google LSA
    • Meta Lead Ads forms

Google LSA: Only message leads that come in through the email gateway trigger calls. Leads synced through the API do not.

Not supported: Thumbtack calls and consultations, Google LSA API-synced leads and inbound calls, website texting, and Meta Messenger do not trigger automatic Call Connect.

Step 4: Set your calling hours

  1. Choose to use your company business hours, or set custom hours and a timezone for Call Connect.
  2. Click Save changes.

Leads that arrive outside your calling hours are skipped. They are not queued for the next morning, but your normal follow-ups still run.

Test with a demo call

Run a demo to hear exactly what your team will experience.

  1. Save your settings first.
  2. In Setup, find the Call Connect demo section.
  3. Search for a previous lead and select the contact.
  4. Click Start Call Connect demo.
  5. When your team number rings, press 1 to connect to the selected contact.

Demo calls are real calls and use voice credits. Only use a test contact who has agreed to receive the call.

Good to know:

  • Demos can use older leads.
  • Demos work outside your calling hours and even when automatic calling is off.
  • Contact calling restrictions still apply.
  • Demos are labeled in your call history and count toward Call Connect totals and voice usage.

Billing and recordings

Billing

Call Connect uses your regular voice-credit rate. Each answered side of the call is billed separately and rounded up to the next full minute.

Side of the call

Talk time

Billed as

Team

61 seconds

2 minutes

Lead

40 seconds

1 minute

Total

3 voice minutes

  • If your team answers but doesn't press 1, that team call is still billed.
  • Unanswered calls use no voice minutes.

Recordings

If Click-to-Call recording is enabled, the conversation with the lead can be recorded. The team-only introduction is not included in the saved contact recording.

Very short calls may have a recording but no transcript.

Troubleshooting

To see what happened on a call, go to Call Connect → Activity and open the attempt details. You'll see the number that was rung, the introduction, whether the call was accepted, and the outcome with the lead.

What you're seeing

What to check

No automatic call

Check that Call Connect and the lead source are turned on, your hours and timezone are correct, a team number is set, the lead has a valid phone number with no calling restrictions, and Click-to-Call is set up. New automatic attempts must start within 5 minutes of the inquiry arriving. A phone number added later is eligible only within that same window.

Lead arrived outside hours

The call was skipped and won't be retried later. Your normal follow-ups still run.

Team answered, but the lead wasn't called

Confirm someone pressed 1 within 10 seconds. Answering alone doesn't accept the call.

Lead didn't answer, or the call failed

There's no automatic redial or backup number. Review the attempt details and follow up with the lead manually.

Shows "Connected"

The lead's phone picked up. Voicemail can also count as connected, so this doesn't guarantee you spoke with a person.

Shows "Awaiting confirmation"

The result isn't confirmed yet. Don't assume the call didn't happen.

If you need help with a specific call, contact support and include:

  • Your company name
  • The lead
  • The approximate call time and timezone
  • The number that was rung
  • The outcome shown in Activity

Summary

You've set up Call Connect to ring your team for eligible new leads and call the contact after someone presses 1. Your normal follow-ups keep running in the background, so leads that don't connect still get worked.
