How to set up click-to-call in LeadTruffle

What is click-to-call?


Click-to-call lets you call a lead directly from your LeadTruffle inbox with one click — no need to pick up your phone and dial manually.


When a lead comes in with a phone number (from Yelp, Thumbtack, or any other source), you'll see a green call button in the conversation. Click it and you're connected instantly.




If the call button is grayed out, it usually means no phone number is available yet. If the AI asks the lead for their phone number during the conversation, the number will populate on the sidebar once they provide it — and the call button will become active.



Option 1: Call in browser


This option lets you make calls directly through your web browser.


  1. Go to your Click-to-Call Settings
  2. Select Call in Browser
  3. Choose your preferred microphone and speaker
  4. Click Test Setup to confirm your audio sounds good
  5. Click Save


When you click the green call button on a lead, the call will connect through your browser.




Calling source number


The number your leads see on caller ID when you call from the browser is your AI Voice phone number. This is the same number configured in your AI Call Answering settings.


You can choose a local number with your area code so leads are more likely to pick up.



Option 2: Call from your phone


This option patches the call through to your cell phone, desk phone, or any device you choose.


  1. Go to your Click-to-Call Settings
  2. Select Call from Phone
  3. Enter your phone number (cell phone, desk phone, etc.)
  4. Click Save


When you click the green call button on a lead, your phone will ring first. Pick up, and you'll be connected to the lead automatically.





Which option should I choose?


Both options work well, but here's a quick comparison:

If call quality matters most, Call from Phone is the recommended option. Cell phones and desk phones are purpose-built for voice calls and will generally sound better than a browser-based call.



Setting up click-to-call for your team


Click-to-call is a per-user setting, so each team member can configure their own setup independently.


  1. Have each team member log in to their LeadTruffle account
  2. Go to Click-to-Call Settings
  3. Choose Call in Browser or Call from Phone
  4. If using Call from Phone, enter their personal device or desk phone number
  5. Click Save


Once configured, any team member can click the green call button in the inbox and connect to a lead instantly.
